Acknowledgments

I would like to thank the outstanding people who really value history and know the resource it is for inspiring us, amusing us and teaching us.

Thank you to the staff at the McKay Avenue Historic school and archives in Edmonton, staff at the Glenbow Museum, the University of Calgary library, the Calgary Public Library. Thank you to the authors of early Calgary history books and to Fort Calgary, Heritage Calgary and all those who preserve legacy.

Thank you to the amazing librarians at the Calgary Board of Education elementary schools, secondary schools who make a library a place of joy for kids.

And thank you to the hundreds of researchers I never met, in small communities all through the prairies. The small run books, the projects of family history. I am amazed at the tireless community leaders who assembled local history books around the province. My aunts were some of them and yes, one of them was a teacher.
